About the State Hovel

This picture of the State Hovel was taken from what is now Route 161. It was built in 1898.

The State Hovel was used to house the horses that used to 'Roll' the roads. Built and run by Jules' grandfather, Jules, it is now the site of St. Peter's Country Store. This photo includes Ozty, Jules' Grandmother, and three of her daughters. From left to right: Rella, Lucy, Winne, and Grandmother St. Peter.
